This company handles most emergencies in the Pine Bluff area as well as
transfers in and out of the city. It also cooperates with Jefferson
County in emergency rescue services.

Electricity for much of the Pine Bluff area is provided by Entergy

C&L Electric Cooperative Corp. of Star City serves customers in
parts of Bradley, Cleveland, Dallas, Desha, Drew, Grant, Jefferson and

Fire Protection
The Pine Bluff Fire Department has 91 firefighters operating from seven
stations. The department has pumpers at all stations plus reserves, two
ladder companies and a hazardous material unit.
Firefighters are also trained as first responders and emergency
medical technicians and are dispatched to medical calls as well.
Fire protection is provided to the rest of Jefferson County by
various volunteer departments. Emergency personnel can be reached by
dialing 911. White Hall Fire Department’s non-emergency number is

Natural Gas

department’s administrative offices are located in the Pine Bluff Civic

County Sheriff’s Department. The city and county operate a cooperative

Garbage collection is provided for Pine Bluff and Jefferson County

Sewer service is provided by Pine Bluff Wastewater Utility, which is

The
Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Public Library System has five branches open
to the public.
The system has 190,000 books, videos, books on cassette, microfilm
documents and state documents. Free Internet access is available at all
locations. The library offers 22.5 million titles through a computer
data bank that is in contact with libraries throughout the United States
and Europe. Word processing, educational programs and public computers
are available at all locations.
The central library, 200 E. Eighth Ave., in the Civic Center, is
the largest section of the library system and offers a special Arkansas
collection, movies on VHS tapes, DVDs, audio books, a genealogy
